Problems with Devo 7e was created by DoubleQuad
I got my receiver today - an OrangeRx.

I have it plugged in to use CPPM and my FC (Naze32) is configured to use CPPM.

Issue 1:
I managed to get the receiver bound OK, but in Baseflight, I get no response from the controls when I move them. I have verified that the receiver is bound by turning off the controller and the light on the receiver starts flashing then stops when I turn it back on.

Issue 2:
I went into Channel Monitor in the Transmitter menu and I see that my left stick shows -100 at dead bottom and that figure increases as I push the stick up, but when the stick gets to the vertical middle the figure jumps back to -100 and stays there as the stick moves from middle to dead top.

Issue 3:
It seems that I have to re-bind every time I have powered off my quad. :(

Any help with any of those would be appreciated :)

Did you calibrate your 7e? that could explain 2

What model of the Orange Rx receiver do you use?

You did not use the bind plug AND a fixed ID at the Devo....

Edit: To set up all things but the esc, a four cell NMhi bat at the receiver or the fc is quite usefull, e.g rx stick range or modes....

Devo7e, TaranisQ X7, R9M , 4in1 MM, Futaba FC18plusV3.2 & DFT/FLD-02

Hi yes I did indeed. I did that before I noticed the problem so not sure if it was OK before that our not. But after noticing it I have calibrated 2 or 3 times.

I believe I did as fixed ID is the default isn't it? I didn't change that but will check...

I did my initial bind with the battery plugged strict into my Rx. :)

With this rx and a devo7e, all channels (1-4) should show up at 1520 for neutral on the gui.

Hi all,

I have fixed issues 1 and 3 :woohoo:

I still have the issue with my throttle stick that returns to -100 at center and remains at that. I have recalibrated.

Now that I think about it, I know it used to work because the display on the screen used to show it going from -100 to +100, so I have done something to make it not work any more!!

I'm thinking that if the calibration data is stored in the tx.INI I might just reset it in there...

Make sure you didn't accidently set up a mixer or expo that only goes from -100 to 0 or something.

Aha! It most likely is something like that. I loaded up another "blank" model and the stick has reverted to showing from -100 to 100.

For a 250 class quad what is a good base model to use?

Thanks :)

You don't need anything fancy as most of the set-up should be adjusted in the FC. Just set-up the four simple channels, and also channel 5 and 6 for switches (AUX1 and 2). After you have the basics communicating, then you can do sub-trims to get your min/max

So it turns out that the problem was that either I, or one of the models I had loaded, had set the safe value which was limiting the values from the Tx.

So I simply reset that and I was away!

But then I hit an issue where I couldn't get the Naze32 to arm, even though I was arming via a switch. Turns out it still won't arm if your end throttle point is too low. I found a post where the dude had to raise his up to 1175 to get his to arm, so I tried that (and a few lower values too) and hey presto! Now I have a quad that flies...

Thanks for all your help guys :)

I know that I am posting on an old topic but I just built my first multirotor and i have done almost everything that has already been mentioned. But I cant even see my switches on CLEANFLIGHT when i switch them up and down to assign them. And i also forgot to back up anything off my tx before i flashe the deviation firmware to it. Any thoughts?
