What is your devo 7e dsmx range test results? was created by lahiru4216
i have upgraded devo 7e module with walkera smod module.i had turn on devo 7e without antena so many times.i think i have fried smod module.but t works with 300m range at 150mw.i did a range test at 100uf with storm s603 6ch rx. the range was 3m.
I want to know what is your range to know my module is working or not ?
Note:i can get 20m with devo pritocol at 100uf output power!!

My Devo7E with the S-mod upgrade, have 3m of range in dsmx/devo 100uW...
It's faulty?

I recently changed my stock module by the smod module, and have 3-5 meters in 100uW (devo protocol)....it's faulty?
thanks!!

On Spektrum AR600 (antenna diversity, no parallel antenna Fades B/L as no vertical satellite) I do NOT get up to 40m (LOS, holds)! It stops (LOS) at ~33-34/max 35m for me.
Here are my DSMx ground tests - probably will move result numbers to "DSM telemetry support range" or a new thread
- repeating AR6210 + AR8000 +1mw range tests
- nightly-build firmware updates on DSM protocol changes (vlad changed DSM code in nightly build after fcd0669)
- Indigos DSM protocol test build (big DSM code changes)
Devo10 on nightly build 4.0.1-fcd0669
LOS = complete loss of signal (rudder test) = >0 holds
300µw = ca. more +12-13m distance compared to 100µw
Spektrum AR600 + TM1000:
100µw ~33-34m/max 35m with no LOS / 0 holds (at that big distance for 100µw there are many (>40) FrameLosses and a view telemetry out of range
300µw ~45-47m/max 48m with no LOS / 0 holds (at that big distance for 300µw there were very many (>40) FrameLosses)
1mw (=Spektrum range test ~30-35m) to be re-tested: I had up to ~60-65m with no LOS / 0 holds / not that many FrameLosses on AR600/AR6210/AR8000 last year.

Thanks Thomas!
Anyone know what would be the problem? Bad Smod module?
Another failed component?
Thanks again

Dont be afraid.I also get 2m with using dsmx reciever and s mod moudle at 100uw.but i can get 20m with devo rx1002 using smod module at 100uf.from now i have to replace rx of all my rc models to devo rx to get better range.ursus69 wrote: Anyone can help us?? Any solution? Idea?

You get 20m at 100uW with Devo?
I tried with a QrLadybird (Devo),... and I only get 5 meters at 100uW..
I think that I don't turned on tx without antena...but once maybe..

BTW: What build version are you running? Latest nightly build? With or without telemetry turned on?
Yes, it's sometimes kinda hard to track all nightly build repository code changes, but there have been changes on DSM and DEVO generally spoken.
And I know from testing Indigos DSM test build versions that there can be (were) differences of FrameLosses or distance (e.g in his versions) in how the protocols and telemetry RX<->TX modes are implemented.
This is the latest DSM protocol nightly-build commit by vlad_vy:
4b3dc91 DEVO and DSM protocol updates 2015-07-29
You should either use at least this nightly build version 4b3dc91 (or newer/latest) or at least the nightly-build I successfully use: fcd0669

I have made a simple rf field strength meter, basically dc meter rf diode and resistor.
i have mentioned this in the past but there is a huge amount of difference in emmitted power depending on protocols.
Using Frsky, setting to lowest power 100uW, the field strength measured is as strong as dsm (x) field strength at Full power level.
Frsky at full 150mW my meter goes out of scale, while with DSM only 15% of Scale.
Then ther Devo protocol has bit more power than spectrum, while using same RF chip..
I am not so sure if range check 100uW rangecheck is always fair. Doing range check with FRsky you have to walk huge distances, it keeps working., it is much furghter than original Frsky module. When range check with Frsky original Tx, my meter does not measure any rf, so must ver very low indeed.
Flysky protocol with A7105, also has lots of emitted energy second powerfull i saw, but bit less than FRsky.

I used a recent nightly build or FrksyX test build.

I can confirm I get between 30 - 40 m in range check mode using a standard tx module in a Devo 7e and one of these orange receivers.lahiru4216 wrote: djdazzy said that he can get 40m in 100uW mode.

Thanks for the reply Thomas, Fernandez & djdazzy
It could be the problem?
Is there no way to know if the module is fried? with a multimeter or similar?....or only testing with range tests?
Im running nightly Devo7e- V4.0.1-dfa9397 (January 2016)... Without telemetryThomas.Heiss wrote: BTW: What build version are you running? Latest nightly build? With or without telemetry turned on?

15m with devo 7e and devo 10 using cheap rx.i think spektrum one usually beat 40 at 1mw.
