12S Black Screen After Binding to Runner 250

Hi All,
I'm having trouble with the deviation software. Bond the 12s to my walkera 250 runner (Devo rx710). Throttle stick test was good, then the telemetry screen popped up with off the chart numbers and nothing on the 12s would work so i powered the tx down. Powered back up and get a blip of the deviation screen then black screen. Can anyone help with this? this the first time i bind the 12s and bam, problems...

Is this a new 12s, have you used it previously with other receivers? Which version of Deviation? And do you have any hardware mods installed?

The 12s is 3 years old, was only bound to devo rx 1202 that was purchased with the tx. March 10th i upgraded to Deviation v.4.0.1-1b4432b. Last night i bound the 12s to the runner 250 with no problem. tested the throttle stick spinning the motors on the runner, telemetry screen popped up with off the chart numbers and immediately lost the bind to the runner. the 12s would not exit the telemetry screen so i figured turning it off and back on would help. when powering the tx back up it gives a blip of the blue deviation screen then black or blank screen. After that i connected usb and upgraded to the latest nightly build figuring this would help clear things up but tx still doing the same. i have no hardware mods.

I connected 12s to pc and powered up tx in the usb mode. I deleted all the files in the usb storage and installed the latest files from the latest nightly build. Powered up tx and it's back. didn't have a chance to go through ever thing, just wanted to let you know its back.
But still would like to know what to do before attempting to use it on any of my quads.

You took exactly the step I would take. Given a failure after a change, the most likely culprit is what you changed... The firmware. It's not unusual to get a corruption of the USB drive when changing firmware (although I don't think it happens as much on the 10), and a major cause is unplugging your USB or turning off the transmitter before "safely removing" the USB connection.

The quickest, most effective fix is to go back and format the USB drive then bring back your files. Did I mention to make a backup first?

I don't always format the USB when I upgrade or change firmware, but I usually do, and always when going back to an older nightly.

Once tx is powered up, deviation main screen up,trying to enter setting but nothing happens just stays on main screen....wondering if i should just start all over upgrading to the latest software or go back to the older firmware? this is puzzling.....

Just a thought - it might be the touch screen is not calibrated. Tapping a button would give no response, so try tapping in the general vicinity of the button to see if you can find a "hot spot". If so, you can probably make your way to the "calibrate screen" menu item.

Turned the telemetry off on the 12s and tested on the runner 250 just doing some hovering....all good so far...
