WK-DEVO-S-MOD RF Module

I have this module but puzzeled about its connecting pins under the board. How do I connect those pins to the TX points ? Very confused. Thanks for your help.

Instructions on the site state:
“Remove the original cryf6936 module. Then you can use doublesided tape to install the WK-DE-VO-S-MOD module according to the color dots”
Based on the instructions and the first photo, it appears that there’s enough room for the module even with wires folded across the top, so fit should not be an issue. You mentioned soldering wires to the back of the module. I wouldn’t do that. Solder to the front (top) of the module for better clearance with the TX main board. That’s how it was done in the photo. The wires are attached to the top of the board. They don’t’ come from underneath.
There’s a couple of options for antennas. You can either use an internal antenna or an external antenna. An internal antenna is the easiest. You just plug it onto the module and run it into the antenna stub like the original antenna, or it can be folded horizontally at the top of the case. Here’s an example from Banggood.

The antenna wires come in different lengths, so pick your length depending on how you want to route the antenna.
The other antenna option is to use a pigtail and removable external antenna as pictured on the site mentioned. Banggood has the parts for that mod as well. You will need to cut the plastic antenna stub and glue the connector in.

I tried to change multimod = A13 to A14 no affect. The hardware ini file constantly get corrupted.
I always install the latest Nightly, format DEVO and paste the rest of the files. I do not get any stars on Protocol but when ever I tried to bind the receiver with DSM2 protocol I get the following :
Protocol Mismatch 0801ef44 0801ef60 and does not bind.
As I suspected this Module wont fit the case, hopefully when it is working, i entend to chop of the legs and solder the wires directly on top.
Your help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Since you are simply replacing the CRYF module, you should not have to change anything in the hardware.ini file to have it work. However, uncommenting has_pa-cryf6936=1 will give better range. I see that you have enable-multimod=A13 uncommented. That line should not be enabled unless you have a multimode module installed.

At the moment I am using 10cm PCI U.FL / IPX to RP-SMA Female Jack Pigtail Cable with Dual Band 2.4/5.8Ghz 6dBi RP-SMA Directional Wireless Wifi Antenna. (see Photo). Should I go for 2.4G RP-SMA Female To U.FL IPX 1.13 Pigtail Cable 20cm in combination with Dual Band 2.4/5.8Ghz 6dBi RP-SMA Directional Wireless Wifi Antenna.

Some suggesting 400mm Long 2.4G Receiver Antenna for Frsky Series Receivers to be used. But most of it would be in side the TX case, would that matter.
Now I am confused.

Some people prefer external antennas so they can get better range. To use an external antenna you need two things. You need a pigtail between the module and a hole in the Devo case, and an antenna that screws onto that pigtail.
I see from your pic that you already have a pigtail and external antenna, so you might as well stick with that. However, you mentioned using a dual band antenna, and that might be a weak link. Dual band antennas generally don’t perform as well as single band antennas. You said that your current pigtail is RP-SMA, so you could get a different antenna to match. It doesn’t matter if you use SMA or RP-SMA as long as the pigtail connection matches the antenna connection. So for maximum range you could replace your current antenna with a better one that matches your pigtail. I don’t use external antennas and I’m not sure which one to suggest, but perhaps someone else can give you a good option.
The other option is to just keep what you have if it’s giving you the range you need. If it’s working for you then there’s no reason to mess with it.
