6dbi is probably too high a gain to use, dipole antennas have a "doughnut" shaped radiation pattern when looked at end-on, the higher the gain the narrower/thinner the doughnut becomes, it reaches further out but inversely makes it harder to keep your vehicle within the band of radiation, meaning you can easily lose signal if the antenna isn't perfectly perpendicular to your craft.
2 to 3dbi is usually a good blend of extended range with minimised... dougnutification?

The monopoles used in the 7E and 6S don't have gain, and essentially become a "ball" of radiation, good for keeping control no matter where your craft is as long as it's within that smaller sphere. Turning the sphere into a doughnut gets you further potential range but has side-effects of potentially "falling into the hole" and losing signal if you aren't oriented right.

These antennas from BG seem not to have a 6di gain on the 2.4 gig band., maybe on 5,8 only.
I was testing these against normal 2dBi ones on my router connected a wireless device runing "inSSIDer".
The signal was weaker......

Some infos for those who are interested in how the radiation and pattern work. Mainly for FPV but .....

I am even more confused now. Previously my 7e was range moded with conductive ink. With the old module I was using this antenna (see Photo) It was successful with the small drones. But when I started flying model aeroplane with this TX, I was constantly losing contact with the model, within range the motor would cut and no control over the model and then after few seconds contact back and normal. It was not happening once but during the whole duration of flight. Mind you on the ground range test was excellent. I thought might be the conductive ink was not applied properly or it was wearing out. That is why I change the module.
So the conclusion is that I should use this
Antenna 433MHz RP-SMA 2dBi for 3DR Radios @ www.banggood.com/Antenna-433MHz-RP-SMA-2...Radios-p-918634.html
in combination with
Universal 2.4G Receiver Antenna Compatible Futaba JR WFLY @ www.banggood.com/Universal-2_4G-Receiver...-WFLY-p-1005363.html
.
As now I am totaly confused and I need solid advice,
Thanks again.

Well, what you find in your 7e/6 is also a dipole antenna. but the disadvantage is the fixed direction and mostly
all pilots are pointing straight at the model. At this direction you will have the least range. Simple turning the
radio to a 90 degree angle ( up, down,left,right)
( "flying over the shoulder") to the model and you will gain the most range of it. By using a swivel antenna
this can be preselected.

I am flying with a quality Frsky 2dBi antenna and they work great. There is even a 5dBi V8 antenna.

Recently lost my video but not the rc signal at some height ( antenna orientation) and recovert 800m
away at a lower flight level.

I did a Range Test and at 100uW it worked up to 30 meters and @150mW it was more then 150 meters, could not go beyond because of the boundry wall.
But the stock model (7e range moded) also gave me the same distance. but it was flaky in flight. Well I think I will to test it by realy flying a model with it and see what happens.

Sounds more like a receiver brownout, the servos etc sucking too much juice for the BEC, and/or your battery voltage sagging under load. I've had it happen numerous times before I started using beefier separate BECs.

Not too sure what you are intending to do with the receiver antenna? Perhaps others are saying to use that as a monopole replacement?

Here's the combo I'm using on my 6S:
- pigtail to get from the module to the case
- 3dbi 2.4GHz antenna

At first I and my mates thought the same. But then we flew the model with my mate's DX6i and there was no problem

Well today I flew with this Module in Devo 7e TX successfuly no problem. I am using the following Antenna combinatuion :-
Dual Band 2.4/5.8Ghz 6dBi RP-SMA Directional Wireless Wifi Antenna
10cm PCI U.FL / IPX to RP-SMA Female Jack Pigtail Cable
I have placed an order for 3dBi Antenna, and I will try that as well when I receive it in about 2 weeks time.

Hello,

I am new on this forum :-)

I should like to know if the WK-DEVO-S-MOD replace only the CYRF6936 or also add cc2500,A7105 and NRF24L01.

Thanks for your help.

It is stock Devo module and replace only the CYRF6936.

For Devo 4in1 module you need:

Thanks for this very quick answer :-) .
It's exactly the module that i look for.
Can you say me if this module is full 5v compatible or accept only 3,3v for MOSI, MISO, SCK and CS/SS ?

It has own LDO regulator 5V to 3.3V (4.5V-8V Input) and powered by 5V. All signal lines work with 3.3V

Sorry, another question.
I want to use this module into our OpenAVRc project.
I see that module has a RESET pin. It's possible to stay this pin not connected ?

Without problems. If you need reset, you can use CYRF6936 software reset.
