wireless trainer through cppm receiver was created by d3relict
dear all,

i'm planning to connect an OrangeRx R920X receiver to the trainer jack on the devo 10, in hope to get wireless trainer (ppm in mixing is already done, we just want to lose the cable).

have anyone done anything like this? is the cppm signal coming from the r920x compatible with the ppm in in devo? any help is welcome :)

I've done this numerous times. I have made lots of posts here as well as rcgroups as well as my rcgroups blog (same name as here).

What specifics did you need to know?

can you link me to your posts about the matter?

i just wanted to know if this will work, because i was unsure about the differences between ppm and cppm, or if we can get the proper voltage for the receiver from inside the devo10, without using an additional lipo.

Here's the blog post I made on the subject.

I didn't necessarily male a how to guide or anything.

Note cppm is no different than PPM, the C is just redundant... it stands for "combined" however it doesn't need to be there cause if it weren't multiple channels together it wouldn't be PPM at all (it'd be pWm).

Your voltage concerns are warranted, not sure the orc will accept 5v without range issues.

Note I really suggest you not waste that good of an rx on this job. I use OrangeRx r615x's and Redcon cm-621 (which arnt ppm receivers however $4.99 Redcon rx + $2.19 arduino = ppm receiver for $7).

Ppm Rx built from Redcon cm-621 + arduino.

thanks!

is 5v too low?

we can always put in some dc/dc converter to the 3S lipo if there is no suitable voltage for the rx. :)

Hi, I use the orange 6ch receiver with ppm out on my devo10 without any real mods. Just made a dedicated cable to connect it to ppm-in on the Devo10.
Just connect the ppm output to the ppm-in port on your devo.

I dont need more then 6 channels, for a trainer mostly the sticks will be sufficient (4ch) and have still 2 channels left.

I use a 1S 150mAh lipo to supply voltage to the receiver - no issues so far. The range between trainer and trainee is short normally :)

we just made the mod yesterday, it works fine :) my friend made a voltage regulator, so the rx can get power from the devos lipo (8v, but the rx can handle 3.7 - 9.6 according to the manual)
