NRF24L01 module - antenna and shielding - Devo 7E was created by stevo1957
Hi guys,
I am going to buy one of these:
www.banggood.com/DEVO-Transmitter-Tuner-...ys-V922-p-89812.html
I have done the range mod and installed 2 x 3 way switches to my 7E and the addition of this module will be my last mod as it will give me all the protocols I am after.
I don't want to use external antennas. If I route this one internally up the antenna tube, will it cause interference with the stock antenna?
Also, do I need to wrap the NRF24L01 in any type of shielding?
Cheers,
Steve

I use that same module In my 8S.
No need for shielding the module.
I use the supplied antenna inside the case of my 8S - no external antenna.
Consequently, range us probably somewhat reduced, but I fly within 100m, (park flyer) so haven't had any trouble.
I don't have interference problems that I'm aware of.

If you want shielding, you can buy a shielded NRF module for a few more $.

Guys,
These continue to be out of stock at Banggood:
www.banggood.com/DEVO-Transmitter-Tuner-...ys-V922-p-89812.html
................. so I will order the module and antenna separately. I have also read that whilst the photo shows an internal antenna is supplied, it's a bit of a lucky dip in terms of what antenna you end up with and I specifically want an internal type.
Module:
www.banggood.com/2_4G-NRF24L01-PA-LNA-Wi...01.html?rmmds=search
Just wondering though, which antenna I need:
www.banggood.com/150mm-2_4G-Receiver-Ant...00.html?rmmds=search
www.banggood.com/100mm-2_4G-Receiver-Ant...15.html?rmmds=search
www.banggood.com/3DBI-Brass-2_4G-Receive...01.html?rmmds=search
I'm thinking the third one given it has a heatshrink covered section like the one that comes in the combined module and antenna package.
Is length critical or would any of the above work?
Cheers,
Steve

I have used that NRF module with both types not of antenna with good results. I fly mostly small quads with the NRF protocols, so the range is limited and is not an issue. The reason for one antenna instead of another might be how you are placing the module inside your TX. The one with 3dbi might be well suited to use inside the Rubber Ducky antenna shell; I have read a number of discussions around impact to the other antenna, and in theory it may be detrimental to have another unused antenna close by, so I use external antenna. I cannot see any performance benefit for my limited range quads.
