Cheapest upgrade to 8ch from a Devo7E

Probably been asked before, but I must not be using the search well enough. I'm starting to think that maybe it's time to "upgrade?" from my Devo7E. It looks like the memory limitations of the 7E are becoming a drawback. What's my best (cheapest) path to move up?

Thanks!

Find someone who can replace the processor in yours.
Mobile repair shops or your local hackerspace are good starters

Then add three way switches and pots and the multimodule

Why upgrade ;)

Or just buy a Taranis

You don't need to upgrade just for 8 channels. Deviation gives you 12 channels of DSM even on the 7e.

True. You can assign Trims to those channels iirc or do the switches mod for more functionality.

as nitro_123 and hexfet already mentioned all deviation tx's are 12ch capable, so if you only require the easy use of 1 more channel add the 2x2way or 2x3way switch mods to your 7e or utilise the trim switches, but if the memory capacity and that no new features will be added to the stock 7e is more your worry then the upgrade of the mcu to make an ultimate7e is the best option, due to the extra code space this upgrade allows it means that the addition of up to 8 extra switches and 2 pots and also the voice mod capability are available to use, also giving the same code space as a devo10 means that there will be space for the new features and additions that will come in the future. another option if you want to stay with deviation is to wait a little while and get an at9 when the hardware and code is ready for proper use, or a devo10 or devo8s. otherwise i'd also echo nitro_123 and say go for a taranis :)
