Antenna rings on the Devo 10

Do they have any purpose?

I want to jury-rig a small FPV screen on the Devo to use when I want to show someone else the goggles, but the damn rings are getting in the way of my zip-tie mount. On instinct I'd say they're just plastic for show, but I figure I better ask before I grind the upper part flat, lest I screw something up.

Just plastic for decoration.
