Devo 10 + 4-in-1: FrSky OK, DSM2 tuning issues

I got my Devo 10 with the 4-in-1 because I needed something that'd control FrSky receivers as well as as many toy-grade receivers as possible. This I do with no problems: the FrSky settings need to be tweaked for each quad because they're never spot-on, so I need to twiddle the subtrim and scales a bit, but I can always end up with Betaflight channels that are reasonably drift-free and go from 1000 to 2000 (give or take - they're usually more like 1002 to 1998).

Now, Banggood recently had a flash sale for the QX90, and since the cheapest option was the DSM2 receiver ($25 versus $29) I got that - no need for the additional two channels on a microquad.

Problem is, I'm having issues tuning it. I can get the subtrim right and the low end of the channels is tweakable to 1000, but I can't get the upper end to 2000 - the closest I can get is 1880, then the value stops changing even as I tweak the scale parameter further. I've temporarily worked around this by tweaking the channels so they go from 1120 to 1880 and upping the rates to compensate, but I'm getting the feeling this is not the correct way of solving the problem since it robs me of some control resolution.

What am I doing wrong?

What values are you ending up with for your scale that your max range is not reaching 2000?

I have bound to dsm2 and dsmx receivers with my devo7e and I never have a problem reaching 1000/2000 for betaflight.

I get 1880 with the scale value somewhere around 115. I can keep going in the tx up to 199 I think, but in Betaflight it gets stuck to 1880 and no longer increases. Oddly this doesn't happen at the other end of the channel.

And I know it's not a faulty receiver because I bought four of the QX90s (at that price they're more than worth the cost in parts alone); I tried the others and they have the same problem. Unless I got four defective receivers, but that would be one hell of a coincidence.

My kingkong90gt bound to my devo7e with dsm2 hits 2000.

My scales are at 150.

Maybe your receivers are the culprit. Or maybe you may have to use the rxrange command in betaflight to fix it.

I still believe if you can't get the sticks to hit 2000 that it should be looked at eventually. I personally don't like using the rxrange command but it is there for situations like this.

Use the CLI command rxrange 0 1159 1841 to set the range.

If you need more details let me know... it's a normal situation with the DSMx/2 devices because the receiver with normal range supplies a 100% signal from 1159 to 1841. rxrange fixes that.
