Devo12s battery pack options was created by magic_marty
Hi all, I want to add a bigger capacity battery to my 12s cause the stock battery seems to run low before i am ready to stop flying..What i would like to try is a pair of the 6000mah 18650 li-ion cells made into a pack wired parallel so the voltage would be the same as the stock pack..
Has anybody tried these type of batteries in there tx and if so is it safe to use the charger that came with the tx to recharge them? Or would it be better to remove them and charge them separate from the tx?
Thanks all..

Hi,
I have just made mine !
I have bought 2 18650 efest 3500mah with a BMS 3A. Pay attention on 18650 6000mah and other bad batteries around 1-5$ who have only between 1500 or 2000 mah..... and often bad discharge on basic 18650.
Efest's 18650 have real 3500mah, but the cost is around 20$ for 2 18650
Another brands are very good as panasonic 18650
My pack stay on during around 11 hours ! My original walkera pack shut down after around 2 hours.....
I'm very happy on my mod ! And you can charge new pack with the original walkera charger, no problem.

I have bought efest 3500mah 18650, there is only one model, the protection is made by the BMS 3A
This circuit shut down charge if voltage is more than 4,2v on one 18650 and shut down discharge if the voltage down under 3,7v
And panasonic are good 18650
18650 name «protected» have a circuit similar than BMS 3A, and made the same job, and in case of protected 18650, there is no need BMS 3A circuit

It will work, no problem
But pay attention before connect the two 18650 in parallel they have exactly the same voltage.
If not, charge them independently before connect them in parallel

It will be better and more safe if you use the BMS circuit at the starting use, the price is very low (mines are around 1€ each)

Hi this topic caught my eye as I have a Deviated 12s and would like to make the same changes. I started to look for protection boards but thei seem, for the most part, a little sketchy, no real control circuitry. But I found this: www.addicore.com/TP4056-Charger-and-Prot...n-Module-p/ad310.htm

Good price, good info.

Cheers,
JerryT

Hi,
this control circuit is good , just usb charge in more than BMS but the radio have already a charge port
for the BMS, you can take that :
https://fr.aliexpress.com/store/product/1S-3-7V-3A-li-ion-BMS-PCM-battery-protection-board-pcm-for-18650-lithium-ion/110055_32674275136.html
the same functions less usb charge but more tiny and more easy to put under battery trap of demo 12S

I have 4 of the so called 6000mah 18650 cells with the protection so i made a 2 cell parallel pack to test out, it works fine but i am pretty sure they not 6000 mah. To bad they wont fit into the stock battery case it easily pops apart with very little effort and has a single cell labeled 3000mah but we all know it is not but if it is 12s is really power hungry

Have a question about building the battery. Did you use the old battery tray to set the new one on and solder the two battery leads to the old pins on the tray, or did you just put in new plugs for both transmitter and battery leads, getting ready to do it my self.
