Request for nightly Devo12 with NRF module was created by magic_marty
I have recently discovered the nightly builds does not support the NRF module when installed in the Devo12 and would like some of pros to please take a look at it and see what is wrong with it...The nightly works with the NRF module fine in my devo8 but when installing the same module in my 12 it says "missing module" I rolled back to Deviation 4.0.1 firmware on my 12 and the module works fine so i know there is no issues with the connections to the devo12 ..it has to be something in the nightly builds firmware...not sure if anybody else has experienced this and resolved it but would love to know how to fix this issue...

Thank you...
<Marty>

Give this a try. It's a build of hexfet's repo that I've been using for few weeks successfully.

Are you using a multimod, or just the module straight in to your tx? Could you post your hardware.ini file?

No just have the nrf module installed. I will post the hardware file later when i get in from work. No multimode only the cyrf and the nrf module installed.
Thanks.

EDIT: added hardware file...

The only issue I can see is 'has_pa-cyrf6936'is set to 0. It should be commented out. This really shouldn't mess with the NRF module, bit I have only used the build above with the multimod.

4.0.1 doesn't do any module checks on startup, so the lack of an error message with that version doesn't necessarily mean that the issue isn't still there.

I actually have it commented out at this time and still says missing module so yes it doesn't seem to bother the NRF module...all i know is it is really weird that the nightly works perfect on my 8 with the NRF and no matter what i try it will mot work on my 12..:( the module works with deviation 4.0.1 non-nightly build but my cx-10 flies weird compared to the nightly on my devo8 ...its a bit jerky on the controls where as on the 8 it is really smooth running the nightly build..

Any chance there is a power supply issue to the module in the 12S? Might be worth measuring it at the module while transmitting.

Already checked it...3.3v at the vcc on the module pad..seems if it were a power issue the module would not work with deviation 4.0.1 and not work with the nightly..it really has me confused cause everything is hooked up correctly and i have double and triple checked multiple times with a voltmeter..

Certainly mikemacwillie means the current and not the voltage.

So perhaps the the amperage is not high enough...is there any other way to power the module?

EDIT: Still makes no sense if it was a power issue seems the module would not work on deviation 4.0.1 ...unless the nightly is some how not powering the out puts on the PCB correctly?

I donĀ“t know.
All I remember is, some time ago, a user had an issue with the
3.3V regulator on his 7e. The power supply was restricted by this
max 300mA device and he upgraded to a stronger one.

If there are some difference between the versions of Deviation you can check by the consumption of the whole tx.

not sure what you mean by "consumption of the whole tx." ?

Did you hear of someone else having this issue with his 12(S)?
Maybe they do not use the nighly or have no NFR installed....
Who knows.

Do you have a different modul at hand e.g. a A7105? Then you can test the
A13/14 with that one. All you lack with the nightly is that these lines going activ to low.
Use your saleae and look if this happens at least once or never.

i have not heard of anybody else having this happen on there 12...i do have a couple of A7105 modules coming from BG and should be here next week i believe i don't have any models to bind them to but plan on installing them for possible future use..Even with no models to bind to i should still be able to tell if they work or give the missing module error like the NRF is doing..

"not sure what you mean by "consumption of the whole tx." ? "

In which other method will be able to check differences with already soldered modules?

don't know of any other way to check them..wonder if i could power the module with a outside source like a separate battery perhaps to test and see if it is a power issue?

You will have some problems with that one as the wiring differs.
Start with the old wiring method, it works on both versions.
But if you are going later on with the nighly, it is advised to use the "new" wiring.

Oh, i didn't know there was a old and new method for the wiring..I assume i have used the new method but will look and see if i can find some info on the old way of wiring it up.
