Can Radiolink AT9 be a platform for Deviation?

At first glance:

MCU STM32F103VET6

RF module (bus = SPI)
CC2533F96 96-KB Flash, 6-KB RAM
RFX2401C
chip 8 pin = unknown
quartz 32.000 Mhz

Yes. I can disassemble it for tracing connections and parts on other side of the board.

I ordered it, so it will come sooner or later (1-2 months from China - you know), but I'd be interested on what's inside. The most important are - MCU (you already reported it), flash ROM - does it have it at all? it may be that unknown 8 pin chip you mentioned, what's written on it? - display - what type of the display?

8 pin chip at RF module has not any marking

1) MCU: STM32F103VET6
2) quartz: 8.000 Mhz
3) 128K-bit SPI SERIAL ELECTRICALLY ERASABLE PROM: IS25C128A-2GLI
4) DC-DC converter: MC34063A
5) LCD Display: FPC-SJ28N-19VOF

RF module is not that important, you said it has CC2533 - it's a combo of RF front end and 8051 MCU, so hardly useful anyways.

What's discouraging is the amount of flash - only 16KBytes of serial flash. How large is model memory? By any chance can it use external SD cards?

Also, can you make hi-res photos for the board(s), please?

There are 15 models memory. Tx has not any slot for SD card.

Then I'm afraid the SPI chip needs to be replaced by more capacious. It should not be that hard, easier than power mod for Devo 7E for instance.

Got my AT9 today, spent some time studying it. The board quality is very high, the overall design is also very well thought out. You can't miss sockets plugging in the controls - they all of different size. Using DC-DC converter is a brilliant idea - the device is very insensitive to power voltage and does not spend energy in linear regulator.

Device locks out its menus after short inactivity so that you accidentally would not change something important.

The screen is always lit - it should be very low energy consuming one to afford this, but it's very convenient.

It seems to be using unencoded DFUs, they just took examples from DfuSe Demo - which is good!

Couple drawbacks:
1. Low I2C memory - 128kbit is nothing for Deviation filesystem.
2. Antenna is soldered to the board, you need to desolder it to remove the board completely.
3. Many switches, pots, buttons are soldered directly to the board - one good fall - you crack the board. It is a less of drawback, but allowed them to save a lot on assembly cost.

Main problems Deviating it:
1. Flash memory - should be upgraded. Fortunately, the chip is large enough for many people to do this, it's not Devo 7E power limit upgrade.
2. Screen - they used something unnamed, it should be decoded. Visually it very similar to this one: www.aliexpress.com/store/product/2-8-inc...443_32482363327.html , but not necessarily the same.
3. Controls - instead of Devo's 6 buttons this one has two buttons - Enter and Back, and rotary encoder with a button. Need to develop another control procedure for UI.
4. What to do with original radio module. It's 802.15.4/ZigBee, I doubt it can be re-purposed for something useful for more traditional protocols. So it can be replaced with universal module or something like this.

It's a long way yet. As far as I understand, it's not an OLED, it's just bright LCD with LED background.

You are right, it's a LCD not an OLED.
China RC forum gave me wrong information , sorry.
If it's an LCD, it could difficult to use under sunlight, am I right? just like DEVO 8S. :(

@vlad_vy, can you make detailed photos of the both sides of the main board? I got "lucky" - I have black board, no way to make a photo. Very nice, very useless for tracing.
