I have found one person via "Ebay - Kleinanzeigen" who have a look on the my ruined boards - maybe he is able to repair - and he seems to be able to solder/unsolder the new boards - if its possible to repair one of the old boards i can decide what to to with the new ones.

The SOIC version is the one you need, it has legs for soldering. The WSON version has solderpads on its side/underside (not BGA), so depending on its fit on the solderpads of the transmitter it could be a nicer finish. But I think this is for very experienced soldering skills and tools.
For clock frequency, the original flash chip has a maximum frequency of 33Mhz, so as long as the new chip has an equal or higher maximum frequency it will be ok.

The later chip has a higher Clock Freq @ 104mhz, so this should still work, I may just buy them both and try the later chip first.

"Microchip SST26VF032B - not fully supported, block protection needs work"
At any case, different flash memory will need different build.

I'm struggling to find any in the UK, all major component suppliers are out of stock and quoting the SST26VF032B as the replacement item. I've managed to find some on eBay, but I can image them becoming more difficult to source.

From scanning through code and plenty of data sheets I think we should recommend a different replacement flash memory which also comes in 150 mil SOIC packaging eliminating the pin bending:
- ISSI IS25LQ032B : It should be compatible to IS25CQ032 which is already supported in the current code: Unfortunately it seems not to easy to get, the only bigger distributor who has it in stock is Mouser
- Adesto AT25SF321 : very small code addition necessary, but still the same problem of availability
- Cypress S25FL132K : very small code addition necessary, seems to be widely available (Mouser, DigiKey, RS components, Farnell to name a few)
Since code for flash type auto-detection OS already written we could also recommend any of the three and add the small code changes necessary for Cypress and Adesto chips .

They are not font based and not BPM. "BW icons for Devo F12E". It is PBM (P4) "Portable Bit Map" monochrome file format.
