What size wire gauge do you use to install modules,switches,and buttons? I have tons of cat 5 could I use it since it's already color coded 24g and made to carry signal and 5v

That's more than enough. I use 30AWG silicone (30 strand). I buy 300 meter spools of white then color code it with sharpies.


Note I'm 30 years old and in my entire life I've only ever had to buy 2 spools, 300 METERS is a ton of wire lol.

like CK I use 30awg also, though I use kynar/wirewrap so 26awg cat5 will be fine bud
