Hi!

Please find attached my first attempt at a deviation config!

Throttle hold is on rud D/R (normal at 0, -100 at 1)... so you can turn on your TX with all your switches @0 :cheer:
FMOD has different rates for AIL & ELE & RUD (0 is 60,1 is 80 and 2 is 100%)
MIX controls the gyro on channel 5. (0-3)

FMOD3+MIX2 = 1 squirrely MSR!
FMOD0+mix0 = docile hovermobile!

I don't have an icon for it yet... been using this instead, lol!

Cheers!

Hi,
good start. Go on with making configs and icons, many people will find them helpful.

What means "3" with mix controls (0/1/2) and FMOD3 (also 0/1/2)? Only Typos?

Hi,

I tried to implement something I read about DXi guys using a dial to tune the gyros...

Turns out theres no difference in the travel between MIX1 and MIX2. Mix 0 will be the slower built in dual rate.

So I guess its really FMOD3+MIX1 or mix2 = 1 squirrely MSR!

I just got my devo 10 today, I'm still a giant noob :)

Cheers!

I looked at your model.ini.
You should see a difference between MIX1 and MIX2. Maybe the values are not different enough.
When you look at the mixer for gear you will see that
  • the first (left) value is active if none of the middle and right switches are on - so this will be the active value if MIX is on pos. 2
  • the middle value if when MIX0 is active
  • and the right one with MIX1
It is usual and gives you an easier overview (but you can do whatever you want) when you assign no switch on the left (only a source, for fixed values it does not matter which), MIX1 in the middle and MIX2 in the right - this way MIX0 is on the left and you have the "natural" order.
Maybe you do not see the ecpected results because Blade and Deviation are using different scales for a few functions. While deViation has values in the range from -100 to 100 Blade uses 0 to 100 for gyro sensitivity. You have to recalculate the values (70 = +40, 15 = -70, 40 = -20, look here for the formula (hopefully I used it correct ;) )).

Thanks for the advice!

I used the Tx to make the config as I just got it, I wanted to get to know her better ;) I'm sure the .ini method is easier and cheaper on batteries!

Its kinda funny, but when I set up the mix switch, it came out 40-15-60... I ended up just swapping 40 &15 so it would "appear" in order on the mix switch, lol!

I did try larger values 0-50-100 but it still seems like its a 0 or 1 kinda thing.

I will recalculate with your formula when my coffee starts to work ;)

I also read late last night that you might need to reverse channel 5... I will try both and let you know.

Honestly, I wanted to get the gyro mapped to one of the dials at the top of the devo10 (aux 4 or 5) but wasn't able to figure it out so I went for the switch instead :)

In 5 more hours, I will have had my devo for a whole day!

Hi Again!

RBE2012, I misread your post... you had already included the values, lol!

I did indeed give them a try but it seems that Channel 5 on a MSR is not controlling a gyro but rather the built-in dual-rate feature that works with the RTF transmitter.

I tried too many values to list and in reverse too, in the end this is the simple break down.

(<=0) = low/easy rates
(>0) = high rates

Between the 2 mix rates, the 3FMOD's, and the 2 sets of ball links on the swash, you get a lot of choices for your flight style or skill levels.

It seems that Blade helis have some special functions programmed in their rx. I have seen something similar with my nano (look at the nano cobfig thread). You can learn a lot by reading the manual, esp. the parts about the better tx like dx8.

Hi!

There's nothing in the msr manual that was helpful (I have the bnf version- maybe RTF is more informative) and while I don't have a nano... I actually have its manual, lol! :)

Attached is what I guess is the best setup I've got going for the msr now...

Same as above except...

Channel 5 (DR) is now on gear. 0= low rates 1= high
Main screen
switches 1-3 show which FMOD you are in
switch 4 shows if you have TX hold engaged
throttle % and channel 5 value displayed (negative rate = low)

Ive had the MSR since it came out, and its really like opening the box all over again with a proper TX! Almost all pendulum fighting can be forgotten!

good times!

Cheers!
