With regard to OpenTX communities you must be looking in the wrong place. I have been using OpenTX since it was originally called ER9X back circa 2005. There are loads of great communities e.g. openrcforums.com, rcgroups and loads of Groups on Facebook.
This forum used to be very good but as none of the developers are ever on anymore you can kiss any chance of new protocols goodbye. Vlad does his best but he seems to be the only moderator that I ever see login and try and help. I help where I can but I am just a user like you.
Like it or not the fact is this project is dying. RadioMaster have killed off the TX8, I am guessing Jumper will do the same with the T8SGv3 and then there is just a whole bunch of ageing Walkera's left unless you like the idea of paying over the odds for a new Devo 8s directly from Walkera.

I'm leaning towards the radiomaster TX12 which looks better than the Jumper T12 in terms of handling and sticks/button but it doesn't have as many RF module as the Jumper

The roller may look cool but think about the overall usability of the radio
What I can say however as the owner of both Jumoper and Radiomaster equipment is that RadioMaster aftersales support is second to none.

The only major cc2500 implementation is FrSky. They might not think this way but it is the 4in1 that helps them quite a lot in the early market engagement.

At least, I get Hall sensors, proper switches, OpenTX and maybe some additional protocols with this special version (?). I hope I won't regret it!

I'll keep my T8SG with me as a backup (or for my children later). Like you, I really like the small form factor, only wish the display was more like a phone screen.
Any advice on "porting" RC model settings from Deviation to OpentTX?

propnut wrote: I had the original white T12 that came with an external 4in1 module. Was a great radio and I regret to this day selling it. My T16 is big and clumsy. Don't get me wrong it is very cool with the highly customisable colour screen but for drone flying nothing beats the size of a T8SG/T12

Walkera devo 7e was the first innovative hobby grade radio of such a small form factor, remaining the same as at today. Jumper inherited it in their T8SG and T12.
I have sold out all my big radios since then...
