AFAIK the setup for a hexacopter should be no different than that of a quadcopter; all (most) of the configuration is done on the copter end by the flight controller, they usually just want the four basic channels of -100 to +100 for throttle, yaw, roll and pitch.
Grab any one of the multitude of quad config files here, set the protocol to suit, take your blades off (important!) and give it a burl.
