Tone down the top yaw rate, and it's steep pitch will fight some hefty winds. It's got everything -- just needs a little polish.
Great indoor/outdoor flier!

I'll keep my transmitter wired-up in case more captures are needed at some point.

Please continue! Expect the H8 mini to be one of the very best nano indoor/outdoor fliers once Deviated.
It's awesomeness awaits.

- The data phase address and rf channels (4) are sent in the bind packet
- Last packet byte is checksum - just the sum of packet bytes
- First packet byte a4 for bind, a5 for data phase?
Don't want to monopolize the fun of implementation...who wants to jump in?

I think this protocol will be very expected, since the Eachine/JJRC H8 mini, BayangToys X6, X7, X9, JJRC JJ850 and maybe more models, are on this protocol.

I'm trying to figure out the subtleties of the H8's special functions, and learning to speak fluent Chinglish in the process.

Yes, that's helpful thanks. The Headless Button capture seems to have two buttons in it - please clarify how you made the capture? The first bit change is little over 4.5 seconds after the start of the capture, with an additional bit asserted at about 7 seconds.dc59 wrote: I also captured H8 mini SPI data, hope it could help.

Hi hexfet,
I captured headless function again and uploaded,

after bind to H8 mini, I applied a little throttle and pressed headless button then stop capture.

I do see just one button in this capture. Is there possibly a second function that is enabled by holding the button down for a long time, like a "long press"?dc59 wrote: after bind to H8 mini, I applied a little throttle and pressed headless button then stop capture.

I'll post a protocol description later - don't have my notes at the moment. Jumped straight to a random txid - if this doesn't bind we'll need to back up and try to replicate a tx that's been captured.
Headless control is on channel 9.

Good job Hexfet I will test as soon I receive my new Bayang X9 (probably this week).
I only have an old Bayang X9 working on different protocol.
Short story...
Bayang Toys release the X6, X7 and X9.
After some months, they silently change the protocol in all models and added Headless and RTF. Fortunately the fantastic flying characteristics didn't change, but the old versions, don't bind with the new versions.
Some time later, were announced the Eachine/JJRC H8 using the same new protocol, and later JJRC release the JJ850.
Probably I will capture SPI on my old version and in case they are very similar (you know I'm not a programmer ), I will try to practice implementing the protocol as an option...

Yes, you are right ! long press headless button is "RETURN HOME" function , I captured this function at new file as below, please check it out!

I installed test build , but it could not bind to quad!
Normal procedure:
1, power on quad, quad LED slow blink.
2, power on stock TX one beep , quad LED fast blink.
3, TX second beep, quad LED on solid.
This build, quad LED always slow blink, I tried to set different ID '12345678' / '111111' / '11' and no ID,
it's all the same.
Thanks a lot!

Will this protocol work with other quads?
Mine doesn't say Bayang anywhere. But they're all "H8 mini". That's the prevailing name used in the forum. Suggest that's a better name to use. Unless the Eachine H8 mini is a different bird.
Edit: Sorry, I forgot you said there were other quads that use the same protocol. I guess I was thinking if there were they must be Deviated already. I guess there are a few older models that haven't been assimilated yet ...
