Newbie not knowing what Fmod and Hold switches do

Category: General Discussions

I have flown a few drones before but they all come with their own transmitter and never had a hold or a Fmod switch.
I purchased a Devo 7e and a Walkera Rodeo 110 and have managed to bind but am nervous to fly it in on intermediate or advaced mode. The devo 7 has a Mix switch that toggles between STABILIZE / INTERMEDIATE / ADVANCED flight modes, but dont know how to recreate this kind of thing on the Devo 7e. Is this something I would do on the Fmod switch? Any help would be much appreciated.

Lemon Rx 6 channel DSMP Receiver not binding to 7E

Category: Feedback & Questions

Came across this post earlier when my 7e wouldn't bind to a Lemon satelite (LM0037A). I'm posting now as I've accidentally come across a fix that I hope will help.

I changed the RF Module to a Devo10 4-in-1:

===>LINK<===

I changed the module to clean up my 7e and also get a full power module for DSMX. I figured two birds if I just change the module rather than mod the existing one and keep the extra modules and antenna(s).

I hope this solves the problem.

Hello! First, let me say THANK YOU to the developers of DeviationTX. It's great, cool and brilliant.
I'm taking my first steps in the hobby, now I've added an ELRS module and am setting up a model to control TinyWhoop with an alienwhoop zer0 controller.
The model uses 10 channels:
1 to 4 - AETR
5 - arm/disarm at GEAR switch
6 to 8 used for flight modes at MIX switch (ACRO/HORIZON/RACEMODE_HORIZON)
9 - for "juicy"/"full bronx" stick mode at AILE DIR switch
10 - for LED ON/OFF at ELEV DIR switch

File Name: model5.ini

Hi, have a look here:

www.deviationtx.com/forum/7-development/...dule?start=940#55157

Scroll a little down to the section Devo8, Devo F12E (PCB looks slightly different but MCU and pin are the same) in this post.

You will find this information about the hardware.ini

[modules]

I'm very grateful for any help here... thank you

I have checked and rechecked the connections...... posting here and asking for help is the very last option because its a very slim chance that help will come. As far as hardware.ini goes, to be honest< I'm not 100% sure what is should read. I installed the 4 n 1 multi module so I modified it to read

[modules]
; there is no need to enable the cyrf6936 module unless
; it is wired to an alternate port. It is Enabled automatically otherwise
; enable-cyrf6936 = B12
; has_pa-cyrf6936 = 1

has_pa-a7105 = 1
enable-cc2500 = A14
has_pa-cc2500 = 1
enable-nrf24l01 = A14
has_pa-nrf24l01 = 1
enable-multimod = A13

If this is wrong, please let know.

Thanks again

I looked up the ELRS and it sounds great but I'm not clear on what protocols it has, is universal ?

Deviation tx on Devo F7 with Frsky R-XSR ?

Category: Feedback & Questions

Hi,

I have deviation Tx on Devo F7 with 4-module.

Anyone has used deviation Tx with Frsky R-XSR ?

As far as I understand, the protocol should be ACCST D16 ?

Thanks

I put the memory in and a new 4n1. I have had trouble getting things going, I have been able to troubleshoot all the problems I've had with the info here but I'm stuck i get "Missing Modules: MultiMod" error. I've been messing with the hareware.ini but more errors..... I keep searching but have found no solution.

So, is this F12e useless for the Open Tx and Eagle Tx that was mentioned?

Hello, check connections and hardware.ini file configuration, multiple times. Yesterday I flashed my devo again.. and did a silly mistake. It took me quite a lot, to figure it out. Of course it would be easier, if I copied my hardware.ini file in the first place :D
You can not install Open Tx or Edge Tx, but you could hook up an ELRS module.. it is brilliant! Right now I'm trying to attach the module, and make it look close to stock :D I will do some testing soon.

Hello, If I solder connector on trainer ports board, which pins should correspond to a nano tx? Probably it would be better to solder directly to the 4 pin connector... I don't use trainer port. anyway. Here's what I found as a reference, I think devo 7e is the same.

Attachment not found

edit: I made a 3.5mm connector, as it is already mentioned earlier by Hexfet, crsf serial port goes to the tip and middle ring(together), ground goes to bottom ring. At first glance, everything works fine, And maybe I've missed something, but I haven't seen an option for receivers setting in edge tx! My devo is 7e 256. Is it really possible to achieve the high baud rate? I know redpine is faster on devo, could it be the same case with Elrs too??

Hi all, Hi Hex,

just wondering, why the files for the DEVO 10 are not showing up in the download link anymore.
I would like to also modify my radio in order to use ELRS... but couldn't find the files following the link (just empty).

The dfu in the t8sg_v2 archive is zero length. Sorry about that. My build box has been crashing and must've interrupted that build.

I've rebuilt and re-uploaded. New download link is here

Or is it just fine to use the following file from the download section from "2021-06-11"?

deviation-devo10-v5.0.0-c84450e.zip
Thx for the work you guys put into this.

Hello,
Just a post to say thank you;

I didn't want to buy a new radio and needed elrs: i successfully upgrade my T8SG plus v2 with elrs protocol (firmware hexfet + crossfire csrf modification + uart_inverted: "If your radio is T8SG V2 or you use Deviation firmware turn this setting off.") by putting an external betafpv micro tx module and everything is working (i'm using it also for wireless connecting to simulators with bluetooth joystick enabled).
Some years ago, i did also the voice mod that i found here.

Deviation is almost extinct it seems. Hexfet was instrumental in getting CRSF shot and ELRS to work with existing hardware, but he's the only developer I've seen keeping Deviation alive. Seems most have moved to newer hardware with Open Tx and now Edge Tx.
I'm still hanging on with Deviation and old hardware. It does everything I need now. But I can't code and may have to eventually move on.

Hi,

I can't tell you where you can still find spare parts for the 7e. Maybe buying a used 7e is an option.
Alternatively, you can operate the 7e with a Lipo battery, in this case the battery compartment is not needed.
You can find such a battery on AliExpress: 7,4 V 2200 mAh LiPo Batterie Walkera Devo 7e

I pulled my Devo 7e apart a while back to do the Devention mod and only got around to putting it back together now and somehow have lost the 4 x AA battery case. I can only find a 8 battery case replacement for the Devo 7 on the net. Any one have any idea where i can get one for my Devo 7e?
