Devo 7e Range Test was created by ian.gill
I have a Devo 7e with Deviation deviation-devo7e-v4.0.1.
I have just built my first aeroplane but before I go ahead and fly it I want to determine what range I will get with the 2db antenna mod that I have carried out.
I've read about reducing your transmitter power and walking away from it until you lose signal and your range will then be (Test Distance x sqrt(150mW / Test Power)). However I can not find a way to reduce the power on my 7E.
In the model menu the power is "Default" and can not be changed. I tried changing the power in the model.ini file but that does not appear to have any effect. I changed the power to 100umW and still got 60m away with no loss of signal, I couldn't go further and still see if the elevator was moving. This would give me a range of over 2.3km which I very much doubt.
Any sugestions would be appreciated.

First get a nightly build.
Second, I fear you will not have more than 360 to 400 m.....
My testing with DSMX at "100" mW was round about 330m. > R615X (diversity) / Storm S603 ( two coax antennas& simple LNA circuit)....
I dropped all the gear and use now Frsky (CC2500).

What range do you get with Frsky (CC2500) and what receiver do you use with it?

I've been out to 880m before I got a single RSSI warning (set to 42) and turned around. Using a D4R-II.
