I'm pretty sure my ground wire was on properly. That's the one on the 7th pin or the red wire in my picture correct? I think my main issue is with the three on pins 3, 4, 5 or blue green grey.

The black dot was the one I missed, this is the pinout tutorial I used. ../1/http://www.hacksmods.com/2013/05/nrf24l01-devo7e-pinout/#lightbox[1482]/1/

The missing module error indicates Deviation can't write/read from the device correctly. Maybe the green and white wires are shorted? Looks like maybe a short between two pads as well. Rework the soldering and check with a multimeter.

I hired someone who had the tools and experience to solder for me and after troubleshooting some software issues my 7e is working perfectly. Thanks so much for the support guys.

Many thanks to Duarte for providing the model ini file.

Everything except the camera controls is working correctly. Throttle trim up/down aren't doing anything.

Any ideas anybody?

I believe the channels have changed for the protocol. New cam/vid is 7/8

Yep, I got it working. Changed the Virt1/2 channels to 7/8 instead of 6/7 and put a different uSD card in and the camera is working. Thanks guys!

When you clean up, repair or modify a model file it would be very helpful if you post it for others to see. Otherwise the site turns into a tower of babble. A working example is way better than just an example or narrative.

Consider using a file name indicative of the model ... like: 'Syma X5C 1.ini'. And if so motivated, you could include comments at the top and within the file explaining things:

; Your name or handle if you like, and the date
; Syma X5C 1
;
; An explanation of what it does, switches used, etc.
; Thoroughness is a virtue, but whatever you're willing to provide is good.
; and the model:
name=Syma X5C1
...

Thank you!

Hi Durete, Just got my first X5C-1 (yep I know, late to the party a bit lol).

Anyway I've started with your file and modded it to do what I want (triple rates on SW B, safety switch on Hold1). What are channels 5 and 6 for tho? I've moved them around to other switches so they're still usable but I'm not even sure I need them... I believe when ch5 flip mode and when it's -100 it's off and when it's +100 it's in flip mode (and will flip when cyclic is pushed full any direction), is that correct? Is there a way to make it flip with the press of a button?

What does Ch6 do?

Hi Cereal Killer.
The channel 5 is not used on this protocol. Channel 6 is flip control. When you enable with +100 value (I guess is enough a higher than 0 value) the quadcopter will flip at max cyclic stick position.
If I remember good (was long time ago and I don't fly my Syma X5 for a while), I configured the channel 6 in Fmod switch.
BTW, you can assign this function to your "Exit" button in your Devo 7e.

Solder a little momentary switch to the FMODE terminals (channel 6) and place it near the TX shoulder, flipping is amazing!

This is my next Mod :) . I have the momentary buttons ready to install for a while, but my free time is pretty tight last weeks and didn't have time to install yet ;)

Hello everyone I can not connect my X5 Syma (Syma-x5-R V3) with my Devo 7E
I always Re-Init and not BIND.
I have 2.4G nRF24L01 chip LNA PA (from Banggood) it works very well for my V666 drone and H8C (protocol v2x2)
I try different version of Nightly Builds and even the version of HEXFET
but I still can not connect to my Syma x5
when I plug the battery LED remains fixed and I do not know if this is normal?
because with my V666 and H8C when I plug the battery LED flashes
I like that the receiver board I wonder if it lacks not a switch?
thanks for your help

I'm having the same issue not binding.
Background- I had to get a new devo 7e due to broken USB port. Installed re firmware and a7105 and nrf24l01+ chips and everything took well and installed correctly. Fly he v911 and hubsan with no issues. I tried to bind e syma x5c-1 and the quads led flashed fast and then real slow but nothing. I opened the ini files and it is showing no protocol. I also checked the protocol folder on my transmitter and there is no syma protocol. Am I missing something??
Thnaks

One of two issues, maybe: the empty protocol folder may be a corrupted USB disk (flash memory). Also, if your battery is low while writing to the flash memory, or goes low while flying, it may not reliably read and write.

So check your battery, then (after backing up any model.ini files if you can!) reformat the USB flash memory, and copy over the file system. You may not need to go through the entire DFU process, but it might be necessary.

my two cents, here is my syma x5c-1 config with a v5 pcb version. Modded 2x2 position switches my devo 7e and set left switches respectively to start video and photos, external right switch(FMOD) is for flips. Set my display to 7:30 minutes timer set to vibrate at 30secs left. (for my turnigy 750mah seems ok with no propguards and camera). The timer is toggled on by the throttle.

Hope it helps.

Asked this here because I couldn't seem to post a main topic yesterday but find it has now appeared so sorry for the double post- please ignore.
Guessing this won't likely be seen as this thread is a bit dead now but just in case:-
I've done the various mods to my 7E and all is fine and dandy with most of my quads but one or two little pointers would be much appreciated.
I have a Mould King SuperX which had an awful FC board with not enough pitch to fight any sort of breeze. Is it possible to use deviation settings to increase the max pitch setting above what the standard controller provided or is the maximum set by the FC board itself? If the answer is staring me in the face somewhere I apologise but after spending hundreds of hours reading here and elsewhere to get as far as I have I'm a bit jaded and thought a quick yes or no would save me a whole heap of time!

Is there a .ini for a V666n with altitude hold. I can control the motors with a standard V2x2 setup but didn't want to fly till I knew the bird wasn't going to do anything 'acrobatic' I wasn't expecting. I have enough palpitations just flying around and landing at the moment- total noob!!

Thanks to all on here who give so much patient advice and help to us less capable flyers.
