How to bind Devo 10? was created by Sebastian
Hello everyone,

I installed the last Nightly Build (v5.0.0-658a6f2) to my Devo 10 to enable the FrSkyX protocol. I want to bind to a xm+ receiver. But I am not able to change the output power, it is always default. When I click "re-init" nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

Do you have installed 4in1 module or any C2500 based module? Do you enable additional modules at "hardware.ini"?

Yes, the 4 in 1 modul is installed. The ini file was already as it should be, I just changed "enable-nrf24l01" from A14 to B7. It says now:

enable-cyrf6936 = B12
has_pa-cyrf6936 = 1
enable-a7105 = A13
has_pa-a7105 = 1
enable-cc2500 = A14
has_pa-cc2500 = 1
enable-nrf24l01 = B7
has_pa-nrf24l01 = 1

But stil the same problem. Can't change tx power with frsky protocols, and if I hit "re-init" or "bind" with any protocol nothing happens.

I think something wrong with "hardware.ini". You can't change power if "has_pa-cc2500 = 0". Edit source "hardware.ini" file with "Notepad+", check for unnecessary "spaces" at the end of options ans so on.

I see you have commented out all modules, you need remove semicolon in front of used modules:

; enable-cyrf6936 = B12

has_pa-cc2500 = 1

has_pa-nrf24l01 = 1
; enable-multimod = A13

Happy too soon. I can hit bind but no matter which firmware I use (EU, non EU) or freq fine (0 to -40) the red led flashes of the xm+ when powering up after binding.

First, it can be bound but Freq-Fine incorrect. Try to change Freq-Fine on the fly, if you lucky you will get green LED.
Second, probably you do not hit correct Freq-Fine. Try all possible values -127 to +127 with step 10.

I am half way done, always with the same results and i doubt this will change but I keep on. Is there a way to see that binding is in progress because the LEDs just show a solid green and a solid red LED when in binding mode.

Right after binding or after powering on again? Mine ist just flashing red after powering on again, during binding, even when the tx has finished, it does nothing.

...receiver not really set to bind mode?
To use this tiny button on the XM+ is a bit tricky.
The center frequence is not far off from zero, this receiver is not a cheap toy grade receiver.

When I am not in bind mode just the red LED is flashing. If i hit the button I get a solid green and a solid red LED. I found this thread which lets me think I got a faulty rx: intofpv.com/t-xsr-wont-bind-to-qx7

I ordered the S.Port Tool Kit from Hobbyking to flash a new firmware. Hopefully it is not the tx that is faulty. Is it right that there is no indication in the radio whether binding was succsessful or not? Or even that there is a device in binding mode.

But you know that this button has a double function..? Pressing at power on (short press) sets the receiver into bind mode.

A short press while powered ( max 1 second) programms the fail-safe.

Unlucky my receiver is buried in the quad and hardly to reach, so I can not verify what the leds are showing.

Edit: The most recent firmware for this receiver is "170313" and if your receiver has the "newer" 10cm antennas, the firmware
should be right on it.
( works with Devo, Taranis & 4in1)

I did not know that there is a funktion when the receiver is already powered up but I know how to access binding mode. The button is easy to reach, the receiver is build in an Emax Babyhawk r and the button is right next to a hole in the canopy. I measure ca. 9 cm for the antennas. Still not able to bind, two solid LEDs in binding mode, one flashing red LED when not in binding mode. Independent of the transmitter is powered off or on.

Only one option left..
What is in your ID field? Standart 123456 ? Clear this field and use reinit if you have not already tried this.

After a bind was successfull, there should be a computed ID shown, not at once, but if you move to this field and press ENTER.
If there is a number show , navigate to "done".to confirm this.

If I clear the the ID after binding it is 123456 again. If I enter for example 1, after binding it is stiil one, but the red LED on the receiver is flashing. Each binding procedure takes exact 10 seconds, even there is no devide in binding mode.

Can you say what is defective, the radio or the receiver?

Clear not after bind BUT before bind.... to get the "reinit" option.....
The ID has to be 6 numbers not only 1.
If you have no other receiver, which is known to work , it is hard to guess if there is a defect.
Try the reinit function. and do not only try to bind with the standart ID.

If you donĀ“t leave the model menue or load a different model after clear, the standart ID will stay there for ever,.......
because the Devo does not save it to your current model file.

Edit: BTW, from where did you get the XM+?

The receiver is from a german commercial ebayer so I mostly tried EU but I also tried non EU. It makes do difference which ID I choose, it doesn't work at all. But it get saved, even ID 1. I don't get a re-init option, it says always bind. But I tried model 1 - 3.
