Good to know it's working. Now I need to rewire my u7e for the original 3x4, 2x2 that I had to test that I haven't broken that part of the code.
Actually the 2x1 -> SWH naming is there because if I don't do that the code get very complex (not that it isn't already). By having them both come from different directions over the available switches, I can save on code as 3-way switches will never be using SWE -> SWH, thus I only need to check the first 4 with conditions. In your case if you just reposition the switches physically you'll have everything in order.

Just tested with my 3x4, 2x2 setup. All working. Does anyone else have another switch configuration to test before I submit a pull request to the main branch?
@HappyHarry, are you still running your 3x3, 2x1 configuration? If you are could you test? It just occurred to me that you might need to change the wiring for the 2x1 cause IIRC your current 2x1 switch would be using the 2x2 wiring position in the new setup.
Thanks guys!

Just for others to get some inspiration, of how to build two pots and 8 switches, all mounted in the top cover.
I would recommend to use wire from the pcb to mid of the tx under the buzzzer pannel, from there you can split distribute and solder wires to both sides of the switches.
The 1n4148diodes, I solderd as close as possible to the switch, almost all wires removed, then covered by heatshrink.
Attached some images.

sorry but I've only got 4x3,2x2,2xP and stock u7e's now bud, and I'm sitting in the airport away to head off for 2 weeks so I can't do any testing at the minute either

I am assuming that this switch mod has been incorporated into the regular builds. I want to install 3x3, 2x5 and 2 pots on my Ultimate 7e .

Yes the switch mod is part of the std nightly build and working well, multiple configuration possible.
As myself I use 2x pots and 6x 1way 2x 3way switch.
You just need to include the switch / pot setup lines in hardware.ini
