G'day,

I'm a real newbie, as well, and only got my Devo 6S bound to my nQX yesterday.

I used the tutorial at
to load the Deviation firmware, noting that you use the Devo 8 FS file for the file system, as there is not a Devo 6S file.

I used the same chap's tutorial at
and loaded the Daryoon model10.ini file, and my nano works fine.

I have dual rates, but can't see how to switch from Safe mode to Agility mode, but someone here will read this and tell me :)

Thanks for the detailed response!

So you used the Deviation V2 instead of V3? (I see in your earlier mail that you installed V3) And you used the file system for the Devo10 instead of the Devo 6? Am not sure if the Devo 6 file system is similar to our Devo 6s?

Daryoon's Outside Nano QX funfly settings for the Devo7e with DeviationX.

Hold switch to toggle between between Stability and Agility. (toggle on back to off to switch to Agility. To switch back, toggle on back to off)

Or, see what switch is used for Ch6.

DEVO 6/6S/8/8S share the same DEVO 8 filesystem...

Sorry to confuse you, but the chap who made the video installed V2, but I installed V3.

I read elsewhere about using the Devo 8 FS, and it's all good.

I'm using his file on my Devo6S, and have replicated it for my mSR, mSRX, mCX2 and 120SR.

However, I can't see how to switch to Agile mode on the nQX.

Could anyone tell me how to bind fixed id?
I have a devo8 with a config file I downloaded, I had to erase the fixed id which was in the file to get the new nano to bind.

All works fine, but I cannot get it to accept a fixed id which I enter.

How many numbers should I enter?

Exactly what is the procedure to go from the auto-bind to fixed id? Say I am up and running in a non-fixed bind. Normally I hit the None button, and a fixed id is randomly assigned. Mine comes up with a blank, and when I enter a six digit number, and bind, the nano does not accept the bind.

thanks Jim

For DSM2/DSMX you need perform new bind with Fixed ID. Power on NanoQX, wait flashing, then power on Tx, enter Fixed ID (any number, I use 6 digit numbers), press 'Bind'.

Daryoon model10.ini file, see the difference

[channel6]
speed=47
template=complex
[mixer]
src=Virt1
dest=Ch6
curvetype=min/max
[mixer]
src=Virt2
dest=Ch6
usetrim=0
curvetype=min/max

[virtchan1]
template=simple
[mixer]
src=HOLD1
dest=Virt1
curvetype=min/max

[virtchan2]
template=simple
[mixer]
src=HOLD1
dest=Virt2
curvetype=min/max

As i can see from Daryoon model10.ini file, 'HOLD' switch used for changing from Safe mode to Agility mode. If you haven't 'HOLD' switch, you can use any other, simply change 'src=HOLD1' to any suitable switch ('src=XXXX1'), with GUI or directly at .ini file.

Thanks very much - really appreciated.

I added the additional Virtual Channel, assigned to D/R in the GUI, and it's all now great.

Thanks to Daryoon and you :cheer:

Hi all,

I am a newbie to the deviation world and am about to buy a blade nano qx. I currently have a Walkera Super CP and Devo 7E and am looking for something that is more suitable for indoor flying for someone unexperienced as me...

I was wondering whether anyone could post a final .ini file for the nano qx quadcopter suitable for the Devo 7E transmitter.

Thank you very much and sorry for the newbie question,

Roy

I second that. I'm just reading the manual in order to install devention firmware on my brand new 7e and a "polished" config file for 7e would be much appreciated.

I have the parameter "fixed_id=" set to nothing in my model.ini file. (Per the Deviation v4.0.0 user manual, page 53, setting the fixed ID to none uses a transmitter specific ID. See below)

name=Nano QX
mixermode=Advanced
icon=NanoQX.bmp
type=plane
[radio]
protocol=DSMX
num_channels=7
fixed_id=
tx_power=10mW

I always turn on my transmitter first (as per the NanoQX user manual, page 8 ), and wait for Deviation to finish booting.

I then select the model config button (which goes to the "Mixer" page), and page one screen to the right to the "Model Setup" page.

I then install and plug in the flight battery in the Nano QX, and quickly set the model on a level surface (The model displays a slow flashing red light, which means the model isn't bound to the transmitter)

I then select the <Bind> button (bottom right corner) to manually bind the model.
After a few seconds, the model displays a solid blue light, indicating that the model is now bound to the transmitter, and in stability mode.

fabien wrote: Hello,

I have a config file for the Nano QX with some function that I think should interest some people.

functions:

  • Sticky throttle cut : disable the throttle until you put the stick down (using Virt1, and RUDD D/R as switch))
  • No need to turn on then turn off the switch to change between the agility and the stability mode (using Virt2)
  • FMOD0: stability mode
  • FMOD1: Agility mode/ 70% dual rate
  • FMOD2: Agility mode/ 100% dual rate
  • If you start the radio on FMOD1 or FMOD2, you need to put the switch on FMOD0 first to be able to pass in Agility mode (using Virt2 and Virt3)

On the Zip file you can find the modelico and the toggle.bmp that I use on my radio. I made the config on a Devo8 with DeviationTX 3.0

@Fabien / Daryoon / Other contributors
Thank you for the model.ini file. Your file made my decision to get a Nano QX, which is great little quad (kudos to Blade) easy.

As much as I appreciate getting a pre-configured model file, that get's me up and flying right out of the box, I also like to understand HOW it works, so I can know how to modify it if needed. (As the saying goes... You can GIVE a man a fish, or you can TEACH a man to fish, which is better)

First, could someone explain the logic behind how the combination of virtual channels and various mixers work, in order to achieve the switching from stability mode to agility mode?

One thing I'd like to change is to reverse the Rudder D/R switch so Position 0 is the active throttle position, and Position 1 is the Throttle Hold position (which is how I've always used configured Rudder D/R for Throttle Hold)

It might also be useful if someone could add a few comments to the model.ini file.

Second, I don't follow how the 70% and 100% D/R are applied using the Flight mode switch.
(In the model.ini file, I see channels 2 (AIL) and 3 (ELE) have no explicit FMODE0 definition, FMODE1 has a "scalar=50" parameter, and FMODE2 has no explicit scalar definition, which I assume implies it is 100%. i don't follow how/where/what the D/R setting is for stability mode.

Lastly, when the flight battery gets low, the motors just suddenly stop, and the model falls to the ground, with the red light flashing, which indicates low battery. Per page 7 of the Nano QX user manual, "Before the battery charge decreases too much, LVC becomes active. Power to the motors decrease and the LED on the 4-in-1 control unit blinks, showing some battery power is reserved for flight control and safe landing." Is it possible to display/sound an alarm when LVC on the model becomes active? I know the model does have the timer set to 360 (sec, = 6 minutes, and that the typical flight time to power failure is around 6.5 minutes)

Attached is my Model icon, which matches my Devo8s color scheme.

I finally figured out how to reverse the throttle hold switch... :)

On the Mixer menu, select the <Complex> Button for the Virt1 Channel.
Page to the 3rd Mixer (the throttle hold input, and change the "Switch" Spin Box setting to "RUD DR1" instead of "RUD DR0".

...or press "Rudd DR0" so the value is inverted to "!Rudd DR0" what gives yo more flexibility with tx having a three-way-Rudd-DR-switch (!RUDD DR0 = (RUDD DR1 or RUDD DR2)).

Wow my brain hurts from reading this lol....what profile that these great men on here created is closest to what I'm looking for I'd like to be able to have a 60% rates and a 100% rates on stability and a 100% rates in agility with like 125% travel and I'd like yo be able to switch between stability and agility with just pushing a toggle once instead of off on and off again...thanks either way guys cause if this forum wasn't on here I wouldn't have ordered my devo 10

Hello guys, hoping one of you more experienced Deviation users can find a simple solution for me. I have been tinkering with my Devo 7E and Blade nano FPV for a few days trying to get it set up perfectly. So far, I have tried all the models in this thread plus another one my buddy found that I will post below. The best one I got here gave me full function but the copter would always be heavily trimmed in one tilt and yaw direction even after stick calibration. The one below works fine in that regard but there are not two rates for speed, only stability vs agility and the other toggle switch kills the power completely instead of being dual rates. Thank you for any help you can provide!!
