Protocol select on original software

Would it be possible to add protocols without having to load the Deviation software?

The reason I am asking is this: I have the Devo12S and the Deviation software is still not ready or in a premature state. But I would love to use my old Spektrum receivers (I have a bunch) with my Devo12S.

So adding a button for example in the system menu where I could choose the protocol.

Deviation 3.0.0 is ready for and supports the Devo12, but does not make use of the big screen (only a 320x240-sized window more or less). If you can live with this, you can fly your Spektrum rxs with your Devo12.
Otherwise there is no chance to make changes to the original software because the source code is not available (it's not open source like deviation is).

I thought you guys can hack into anything....
