I think Speedo is talking about fly a new X5 BNF with his old X12 TX.
@Speedo, yes, is possible, but take in consideration the probably low range for the X12 TX.

apparently there is an X12S model out. Frequent Flyer has done a demo, and says it doesn't bind to his Devo. I'm wondering if Syma has introduced some new protocol on this newer X12 variant.

Quads: Syma X5, X11, X12; LishiToys L6052; NiHui U207, CG023; H7/SpaceTrek M9912; BayangToys X7; UDI U839/939; WLtoys V676; Cheerson CX205

Received today X12S (yes - 'S'). It does not bind with latest nightly (tried 7e and 10). Ok, some experiments. On one side: X11, X12, X12S, X13. On the other side: all the TX-s I found.

1. Devo: binds everything except X12S.
2. X12S TX: binds everything except X11.
3. X13 TX: binds everything except X11.
4. X11 TX: binds everything except X12S.
5. X12 TX: binds everything except X12S.

So as you can see - X13 seems to be transitional model. As it binds every TX and its TX is compatible with X12S. Also the original X12 is semi transitional, as it binds every TX but its TX is not compatible with X12S.

So I think that differences in protocol can be studied both on X12S and X13 TX-s.

I have a question. I'm having trouble using the Symax protocol. It's difficult to get my x5c-1 or x11 to bind. Once it is bound, for about the first minute, the copter is jerky in its movements then the movements smooth out and it's perfect until the copter battery dies. This is only an issue on the Symax protocol, the others bind first try every time and fly fine.

The problems aren't exactly the same every time, sometimes its harder to get it working, sometimes it just works, and sometimes it wont work at all.

I have a 7e with the MJXq test build. I tried the latest nightly build also and it also has issues. I am in a wi-fi heavy area but also had issues in a middle school baseball field. Any ideas?

Pretty strange ... I always had a solid connextion with the SymaX protocol. Except if you set output power to minimum (but I am sure you don't...) It's strange. You did the correct pinout associated with the version 4.01 and above ?

Do you have CE and VCC signals bridged into your nRF24L01 module?
This behaviour sounds to me that you don't have the CE signal connected to 3.3V.

I followed this pinout guide.

I think I did alright but I can't open and confirm until I get back home from vacation. I have no allen keys.

Daryon's pinout is right, but worth to check the wiring again because as Seby wrote before, I never had any single issue with SymaX protocol.
I have the same wiring as you ;)

Syma is using now this new protocol version in all his aircrafts, including the old X5C-1 and X11.
I'm pretty confident is a minor change at the protocol, and probably easy to implement, but someone should capture SPI traces from a new version TX.
Sorry, I can't help here, I don't have any aircraft using this new protocol version.

Can someone please help us x12s owners to get it to work? If it's not working it shouldn't be included in the thread title..

Where do you see X12S in thread tittle?
Did you take some time reading the forum rules about protocol requests?
With that attitude is very likely you will not have any help at all...

Had my Syma X5c (original one) flying great with my Devo 10. I then loaded the nightly build "devo10-v4.0.1-583c468 onto my DX10 to allow me to fly Bayang protocol models. Problem, none of the models flying with the NRF24L01 would bind!
It was suggested on the RC Gruops Devo hacking thread that I try latest hexfet's combo build
www.deviationtx.com/downloads...protocol-combo
This got me back in business but I have an issue with my Syma X5c. As soon as I give it lots of roll or pitch input it auto flips. This makes it somewhat difficult to fly!
My Eachmine H8 quad inputs are also screwed up with it rolling instead of pitching . I still can't bind with my FX071c heli as I only have the KN protocol to choose whereas I understand it should be KNFX. Help!
Sorted the Syma X5c issues by trying a different ini file obtained over on RC Groups

SymaX if I recall. Here is the ini file I used. I didn't create it, I downloaded it somewhere on the forum so I can't give credit to the person who made it. The hold switch is for flipping.
