Tarot ZYX-S issue using satellite receiver was created by FDR
My friend recently installed deviation and tried to configure it to a FBL heli using the Tarot ZYX-S fbl controller with a satellite DSM2 receiver.
He said the Tarot looses binding and only the aileron and elevator channels are operating (after reseting). He tried with Spektrum and Tarot satellite receivers, but neither works.
If he ties the Tarot to the channel outputs of an AR7000, then it works.
He used that model with a DX7 before...

Has anybody tried to use a satellite receiver with deviation?

Maybe need to change Transmitter type (DSM2-1, DSM2-2, DSM2-3, DSM2-4) in Tarot setup software? For DX7 is used DSM2-1. For DX8 and DSX9 is used DSM2-2 or DSM2-3.

Bind satelite with Rx, connect satelite to ZYX-S, then setup Transmitter type in ZYX-S.

I have 4 Tarot ZXY "S", but no DSM2 satellite for the moment.
Could be an idea to try a satellite on my helis. Which satellite model can be preferred to test? there are compatible satellite (like orange)?

Hello FDR

ZYX-S is working with DSM-2 Sat and DX8 as expected in DSM2-2 Mode
(Sat prebound with Orange 6CH on DX8)
When i bind my DSM-2 Sat (on Orange 6CH) with Devo 8 i can´t ge it work with the ZYX-S.
Only the aileron and elevator channels are visible in ZYX-S PC Software in DSM2-2 Mode.
Tried all the other modes on ZYX-S Software without success.

My Satllite lights solid after binding.
If i turn TX und Rx off and on, the Led is blinking (like it would do after a brownout).

works with ZYX-S and DX8 for me.
All prebound and used in ZYX Mode DSM2-2

Today I tested two Orange RX. Same effect: the red led is solid after binding, but after the first OFF and ON of both (TX and RX) the start blinking slowly (as per power fault problem).
It seems to be because the session ID (part of ID binding code?) is always the same.

same for me testet with spektrun ar6200 an orange, regardless of attached flybarless or no. First binding the led is solid and after off/on the led start blinking.

Same thing for me with an Orange sat / ZYX-s Yellow led blinks on each setup in ZYX-s software...It's bound correctly but gyro turns in RX signal error every time...

According to a thread on helifreak ( www.helifreak.com/archive/index.php/t-427172.html ) one should bind the R100 connected to an Orange receiver before connecting it to the zyx-s first time.
Since I'm thinking of getting a zyx-s myself, too I would be very interested if someone could confirm this methode working.

This methode is working for me with DX8
not working with Deviation.

For clarity, will be interesting to test the satellite separately, with suppressed Rx. You need for test Rx with long detachable antenna.
1) bind Rx with satellite,
2) detach antenna from Rx PCB,
3) place Tx in the distance from Rx (or at range test mode) to switch off LED in Rx, LED in satellite should be solid (or blinking slowly?),
4) test all 7 channels,
5) reboot Rx,
6) test all 7 channels.

The brownout issue is likely unrelated to the tarot issue. you can get around it by turning on the Rx before the tx.
It sounds like the tarot expects very specific channel outputs, and that the Satellite is binding properly. Has anyone played with different swash settings in Deviation? I don't know how to reconcile that 2 channels work and the others don't in this configuration.

Zyx-s is waiting for 6 clean Channels. No Tx Side swash mix is required.
It seems like the satellite is using an other protocol after binding with deviation ?!?
With Dx 8 6channel at neutral is no problem for the zyx.

I don't have a dx8. The signal I send is indistinguishable from what my hp6dsm sends (I just ordered a very cool USRP SDR, so I'll verify that when it comes in). So I have no idea which magic piece is missing, nor do I have any way to identify that missing piece. If a Tarot will bind with a DX5e, then I'll probably get one, since I want to work on DSM-X stuff, but my guess is it won't (since it needs 6 channels).

Of course not, but that solution is interesting in a way, that deviation's DSM2 implementation is based on DX6i samples, so it should behave like one.

However there is one thing:

1.- Make sure in DX6i Modulation Type is set as "AUTO DSM-X ENABLE DSMX AND DSM-2 STANDAR RECEIVERS".

I don't know in which "Modulation Type" our samples are...
