I was subscribed to the other thread... and was away for a time and I did not see that until today... So finally we have a 4in1 module? Is that the final design? Where can we get it? Anyone tested in DEVO 12S?

Thanks

A7105 RF signal to antenna Low Low
CC2500 RF signal to antenna. Low high
NRF24L01 RF signal to antenna high Low
CYRF6936 RF signal to antenna high high

so as well as deviation needing to choose which rf chip to use for the chosen protocol it will also need to pull PE1/2 low/high to make sure said rf chip is connected to the transmission circuit. on the d10 these wires will need soldering in, as well as the chip select wires (tms, tck etc) but the rest of the wiring is done by plugging the module in place of the original module

Can we say we need to find some spare ports for them and also need some FW to support the switching? Or do we add hardware to generating them through the chip selects? I guess chip select is probably pulsed and we need some latches.

finally get some time to wire up the new 4-in-1 module from Taobao. Connections are straight forward with the attached diagram.

Output power verified with my primitive spectrum analyser to be on par with the original 7e Devo and the other three add on modules.

Range tested with Devo RX601, WLToys V931 (KN), FrSky X4R, WLToys v911 (Flysky), JXD385 (V202),Syma Car (Syma X8) all to be on par with original.

I do ask the seller about the PA/LNA issue. The reply is all done within the modules. No further explaination given tought..

that's good to hear cmpang! so the deviation version of the 4in1 doesn't have the PE1/2 connections? that means it must handle the switching the same way as the 3in1 does, which is likely that it looks for the chip select signal for whatever chip and then switches the transmission circuit to suit, but who knows. as long as it works is all that really matters 8)

Chip select may only be asserted when the MCU is communicating with the chip. However the same chip may still need to be connected to the antenna to continue to send or listen when the MCU is not talking to the chip.....

It would be nice if the one who makes the X in 1 modules can tell us how to control the board in more details. If it works it works, if it doesn't...

he's been asked several times and isn't willing to share this information, he's even gone to the lengths of removing markings from the chips that handle it, but knowing how quickly things are cloned in this market I kinda understand. perhaps once it hears a chip select and transfers input and output to that chip it stays that way until it hears a chip select for a different rf chip? I'm no electronics guru so I'm juat guessing. also seeing as there are several 3in1's working, and that cmpang has tested this version of the 4in1, whatever method he's using to switch the pa/lna and antenna clearly works :)

@cmpang

Since the 4-in-1 has a CYRF chip, do you disable the 7E's on-board CYRF chip?
If so, how do you disable it?

Just finish solder my 3-in-1 unit, but when I switch on my Devo 7E, message "Missing Module <xxxx>" appears. Is it normal? or something wrong with the 3-in-1 installation / soldering?
Trying to load some config for V911, but cannot Re-Init the model. Any idea what should I do next?

Thanks in advance.

VeGani it mentions this on the BG page, it's happening because the vreg is struggling to provide enough current at startup for all of the chips to initialise, iirc it says just turn off and on again till you don't see the message appearing

You may want to check if the tiny 3.3V LDO is hot. D7e power circuit has design issues I believe.

yes I have removed the oroginal cyrf module.from my 7e.
the new 4in1 doesn't get its supply from 7e's 3.3V rail. Its more or less use the direct feed

Tried to switch on-off, but the message still there. How to check whether the module works? The Re-Init button has no reaction when click it. Is this mean the module not installed properly (this is my first time soldering works based on tutorial from internet).

@Arakon,
Yes, I edited hardware.ini as stated on the BG page.

@VeGani
How did you wire your 3in1 CS_7105 / CS_2401 / CS_2500 ?
Did you check your hardware.ini setting?

Quick silly question.

Devo 10 - After installing the 3-in-1 module, do you leave the internal antenna inside the case or you swap the external antenna to the 3-in-1 module ?

you need to decide which antenna you want to be the external one, the 3in1 or the cyrf module. either that or you can drill a hole for a second sma header and have 2 antenna's instead of 1, or lasty you can go for a 4in1 and have just one antenna for all rf chips :)

cmpang what is this array of components? (surrounded by a yellow box) what are they needed for?

I guess they are three diodes in serial to lower the battery voltage to a safe value while using LiPo packs...

thanks FDR, yeah that would make sense, it looks like he's lifted the original diode and turned it 90deg, then added 2 more to link it back to the original terminal, so that's gives what about another 1.4V extra dropped over the extra diodes? making it a bit safer for 2S li i presume?

that is not my 7e. the photo is from the seller is show how the connection goes.
since i use 1S on my own 7e, i have shorted out all the diodes in the power chain to releive all the unnecessary drops . no noticeable heating issue in the 4in1.
