PB, this is a good new.
Maybe you could consider using a larger memory. I don't know the specification about this adapter, but maybe can be good if we have some pins exposed for a future aplication, like Voice alerts or other type. now voice alert is using the training port, and would be good if we can use only one module to talk with other new modules.

The big issue with a larger memory is that the sector size goes up as I recall. Otherwise it is probably not too hard to handle. We've already put in place a more generic spi_flash handler that can handle various different memories. Extending that part should nnot be too hard. The board does have, I think, 1 unused pin on the 3-to-8 decoder that could drive another SPI slave, but we're probably tasking the SPI subsystem pretty heavily using the same port for both flash and protocol, and I'm not sure how another high-bandwidth operation (like voice) would work with it. This board does not have a 2nd processor on it, and so will never have all the features of the UniversalTx I was designing. But it will be cheaper to manufacture, and should be suitable for all Devo radios

@PhracturedBlue, thanks for kind words, but we're all grateful for your initiating and supporting of DeviationTX project in general, and AT9 and this board support in particular.

Of course when it's ready (iteration or two maybe - that was the first physical design we built and tested) we'll try to persuade the manufacturer in China to complement his 4-in-1 module with this board. And in any case I'll publish the design so anyone can make it themselves. And if the 4-in-1 board manufacturer will not make this board it can be done in small series and sold by us - I'm also reluctant to sell RF without FCC approval and it is quite costly for such a small series.

i have some talk with and bought several 3in1 and 4in1 modules from the China manufacturer.
if you so wish, i am more than willing to communicate with him regarding your proposal for him to make the board .,
to start easy, please write down a short description about the project so that i can translate and talk to him.

Do i understand correctly, that the probably best and most reliable option now is to replace the stock 3,3v ldo with MIC5219?

@cmpang, thanks, but he speaks English in my experience. At least he answers to emails in English. It's just a bit early, the board needs couple tune-ups and I would not like it to leave bad taste in the mouth like 4-in-1 and 3-in-1 first iteration apparently did. I'll have the updated module as soon as it's available and will test it and then talk to him about production with 4-in-1 pre-mounted.

Hi, I've a 4-in-1 board, still in its bag (1st version), has anyone found a working solution for the LNA problem with nrf24 and a7105 ?
I'd like to use it but I need LNA for a7105 (for AFHDS-2A protocol).

I think I described it in post 49211 clearly.

You have to look at your actual transmitter to determine what to do with the regulator (plus a 1ohm resistor.)

YJ, not sure you were replying to my question, but I'm not talking of vreg issue, but no LNA for nrf24 / a7105 ;)

goebish,
I believe the rev2 4:1 boards will fix the a7105 LNA. I believe removing the pullup on the TX pin will fix the LNA on the nrf24l01. to fix the lna for A7105 on the rev1 board will require cutting the trace to pin 2 of the mux (pin is tied to 3.3V) and attaching it to one of the GIO pins, and then writing some code to control it. I haevn't tried it, but it will require some delicate soldering.

Look forward to your real "Plug and Play" module for DEVO TX. :)

my first 4in1 module stuck on overheat issue, it got me a headache and seems no way to solve it.

I'm sorry for the confusion I was trying to address another poster.

Good luck with the module.

PB you mentioned you have another pin on the 3-to-8 decoder that could drive another SPI slave. We've been struggling to get the voice processor integrated with the Trainer port as it conflicts with other usage (PPM In/Out), and I'm wondering if we could instead use an SPI to UART slave (or other I/O) to provide the extra serial TX we need to signal the voice responses?

Deviation Devo7e 3way switch mod, A7105, NRF24L01
Devo6s 2x2 switch mod, trim mod, haptic, multimodule, A7105, NRF24L01, CC2500
Devo12e 4-in-1 with voice mod -- it speaks!!

I don't think you want to use USART over the SPI2 port. The problem is that we are sharing this with high bandwidth timing critical features (flash memory and protocol) and UART code is likely to be too slow to be able to meet all requirements. Now if you can handle an 40MHz SPI signal (or depending on data size, even 2MHz) it is probably something that could be done. We'd need to get victzh to add an expansion port on the board, but we can probably work something out.

Come on, you get to void its warranty. :)

If we are using extra ports to control PA/LNA switching on the N in 1, we can throw away the multiplexer. Just wire the ports directly to the PA/LNA chip and control the ports directly on every Set_TXRXMode().

Not so easy. nRF24L01 has an auto acknowledgement mode in which it itself needs to switch PA/LNA - that's why multiplexer. It's wired wrongly, but it's a necessary part.

I see, we need VDD-PA then. That's why I am still waiting for your 4 in 1. :P

Thanks.

You need not only my board but also updated 4-in-1 module - it will have all lines wired properly.
