Indeed.. it was one bad pin apparently. Buzzed them all against the edge of the pad and one had no connection. Oddly, it wasn't one connected to USB... nevertheless, I appear to have a fully working upgraded devo 7e now.

Actually had to remove it again because it shifted slightly just as the solder melted.. second time it attached beautifully, except for that one pin.

Looks beautiful sitting next to that full range module (I'm assuming that's what it is). Nice soldering job! :cheer:

I just finished 2 more successful ult7e upgrades, thankfully with no issues as these weren't my own tx's lol!

neither, like in my own one I used the 384k version STM32F103RDT6 as the 256k versions I first received I thought may have been cheap clones/faulty, and when I went looking for replacements my local supplier didn't have the 256k (RCT6) or 512k (RET6) in stock. so i got the 384k instead, but as all 3 versions work i'd just use what you can find

I got them from RS bud >>

256k £5.52ea
384k £3.02ea
512k £6.78ea

you can get them from farnell as well and even ebay has them, but i'd stick with a reputable source as those on ebay might be seconds as those that I got from ebay didn't even identify themselves properly in the stlink software. but ymmv

yeah, I think as more people complete a successful swap others will be more inclined to do it :)

Hm.. out of curiosity, where is the binding data stored? I noticed that after the CPU swap, my D4R bind was lost.

Binding is stored in RX, but your TX ID has changed because it is derived from MCU ID.

That's what I needed to know, thanks. Urgh.. now I'm not sure I want to redo my main transmitter, I'd have to disassemble half my quads to get to the bind button again.

for those who don't have capable hardware to build their own deviation images for the ult7e i have created a thread here >> ult7e builds , this will be update periodically to the latest nightly but also has the first 5.0.0 release in it. please consider trying the nightly files to assist in bugzapping as this will help the devs find and fix any issues :)

guys as the 256, 384 and 512k versions all have more ram than the stock chip do we gain anything by changing the code to enable it?
