Hi,

I installed a 4in1 a Devo10, and a DevoU7e.
I have good range in 30mw with my dsmx inductrix & devo10 4in1, but with my u7e with the same antenna and 30mw, I have bad range.

What could be the problem? Any solution?

I made the switch mod on my Devo 7E and tested it out ok right through to cleanflight. Then I did the 4 in 1 mod reassembled the unit and modified the Hardware.ini . Tuned on the Devo 7E and all looks good switches still work and all the protocols seem to be there as all Asterisks have disappeared. Problem is now when I switch on the transmitter and try to bind to a previously defined model to a DSMX receiver that worked fine prior to the mod, nothing happens. Just like there is no rf signal. Rechecked all the wiring and looks ok to me.

Per HappyHarry I used his pigtail and antennae suggestion as well.

Anyone have any ideas of what the problem may be? Do I need to flash something?

Did you remove the original cyrf module from the mainboard? Can you post your hardware.ini contents here? More than likely it is a wiring issue.

Thanks for responding RobC62. Yes I did remove the cyrf module. Here is my hardware.ini file

iirc the cyrf 'transmitter id' is derived from the rf chip serial number, and if i am remembering correctly this means you will need to rebind your spektrum receivers to match the new rf chip that's inside the 4in1

I mesured the voltages. I have 3v and 5v.
I tried to connect with the two option with the same result....Bad range...

Any solution? Idea??

Ursus69 if you only have 3v at the rf module header pin while you have 5V at the diode then you have other issues

I connected the 4in1 to the diode (5v), but I also had bad range...

Thank you aMax and HappyHarry. I corrected the one line in the hardware.ini file and did a rebinding to the receiver and voila another successful 4 in 1 mod.

have you checked the 7e antenna on your d10 to rule it out? also worth checking that the u.fl connector is seated properly and not damaged. is it all protocols you have bad range with?

but as I already said you have other issues, the stock RF module has it's own 3.3v vreg and needed >3.6v to provide 3.3v to the chips, hence there only being 1 diode between vbat and the header. I'd be looking to solve this issue before worrying about range as that tx isn't really safe to fly with as is imo

Hi HappyHarry!

Range solved! I using a new pigtail antenna like this: www.banggood.com/10cm-PCI-UFL-IPX-to-RPS...33.html?rmmds=search and have the range problem...
I changed with a coaxial cable pigtail, and the range solved!!
You say that I have to change the diode? What diode??

Thanks again HappyHarry!!

I too had a problem with one of the 3-in-1 modules I fitted until I swapped the antenna out for one of these and a normal rubber ducky type.

I guess it`s the same type(RG113) as that one from BG or does the coax differ?
Maybe there was a quality issue with your first installed pigtail. One never knows until testing.

I had this with my 7e, one day easy going within 600m, the next day failsafe at 300m, crash..
Never found out what was going on there, everything on the module was tight and secure attached and the rx
was ok.
The genuine Frsky gear never failed.......until now.

I have bad range also and am using the pigtail from banggood, I only get about 40-50m range even on 150mw (this in on both Flysky and SymaX protocols)
I'm going to check the pigtail and the voltages and if they all look ok will try a different pigtail.
Could you post a link to the one you have that is working, thanks

What diode need to verify? Or change?

Hard to find these RG178 / Ipex things. Found one RG 137, but mostly for a RG178 search a pigtail with RG113 pops up.
Would you please check your order a post the source?
