OK, they contain the same layout settings, but I changed setting only for default layout template. I changed [gui-480x272] for default model ini, now all works fine.

It's interestingly. I deleted from default model ini (and from all default modelX.ini files) all layout settings. If I load new model, layout is for [gui-480x272] in default template. If I change layout and then reset model, layout is for [gui-480x272] in default template.

All the same works for emu_devo8.

I think that default model ini (and all default modelX.ini files) can be without any layout settings.

Also, I found that default layout template has wrong trimm settings (0, 1, 2, 3). But model ini files have right trimm settings (1, 2, 3, 4).

If it works that way, i.e. uses the default layout template when the layout section is missing from the model data, I agree, that the default model data could be without layout information.
That would simplify customizing the default layout...

This is what i want to submit for a template. It is very basic but is setup to show all the important info for a regular heli.

I used big boxes to display the info for guys/girls with "older eyes" and makes things easy to see at a quick glance.

Toggle icons are layed out in the position they are on the transmitter (12s), and only show when switch is activated. The two boxes at the top can represent knob value, or in this case they display the main blade pitch % and gyro gain %. You can use the upper trims to fine tune your hover pitch or tail gyro gain in flight.

The mix switch is used to select between three different gyro gain values. (Mix2 is set below 0% to switch gyro into rate mode where you can check/set the tail blade pitch.

Flight mode switch is also displayed next to throttle % box. It displays throttle amounts with a 0% - 100% scale. Hold switch will show 0%.

5 bargraphs for whatever channels you need displayed. I might use these to show the side dial positions.

Top timer on the right shows the countdown timer. It is triggered with the hold0 and reset with trn1. The stopwatch is below it and is also started when hold is off. I find this setup useful when using the simulator. The countdown timer keeps things real and reminds me its time to land, and the stopwatch shows how much total time i've wasted sitting in front of the computer.

In this layout the clock is in a big box for older eyes, but in my advanced layout i will need that space. I also dont see the need for a date box, but... why not.

ISSUES:
24hr clock

The clock did drop a min while i was setting up, and gained 4 hours at some point as well. It might just be an EMU thing when its shutdown.

After exit and save when i had finnished all the mixing info, the emu stoped responding and had to force quit. Thankfully the mix info did not get lost.

Pics below.

I tried place custom templates at 'layout' directory, but I can't find them at load template dialog, I see Default, Empty and models files, nothing more.

Is it possible to use custom layout templates???

SOLVED. Wrong filenames. I need use 8.3 filenames.

It should, but beware of the 8.3 naming convention!
I could copy and rename the default, and it appeared in the list...

EDIT: You were faster... ;)

This advanced layout is for devo12 only. Showing all toggles and dial inputs with bargraphs.
Leaving alot of space for boxes on either side.

Here is my full blown gui layout with telemetry.

It not that i dont know how, but rather i have to figure out a way to get in on a device that can access the internet. I do all my posting from my iphone, i have to use my daughters tablet to download the emu files to the hp mini that i work on. Its confusing at times, i just have to do things in reverse.

I think you can use iPhone as a modem for HP Mini.

For that i would need a data plan on my phone, which i dont have. The hp's wifi is not working for some reason, and its the only windows device i have to work on.

Hey PB,

are you actually going to provide an installable release for those who don't want to bother about compiling the sources etc., or is it to early to deploy on real DEVO12s for flying?

Thanks,

Michael

Right this was the intent, and the code does load the default layout if none is available. I just never removed the code from the template model.ini.

The nightly build available right now has this interface.

Nightly build f2e037 has Devo8 interface (320x240).

Compiled build also has Devo8 interface (320x240) and not work for me. Something wrong with compiled library, all fonts are missing. Compiled firmware with night library works, but interface is 320x240.

Are you talking about loading the dfu onto the Tx, or not being able to build the emulator?
